Doch das kleine Dorf Schengen, nach dem diese historische Vereinbarung benannt wurde, bleibt für viele ein unbekannter Ort. Dabei birgt es nicht nur historische Bedeutung, sondern auch eine besondere touristische Anziehungskraft. Ein Dorf, das Geschichte schrieb Das „Schengen-Abkommen“ hat sich als Meilenstein der europäischen Einheit etabliert, das Bürgern von Drittstaaten mit einem Schengen-Visum die Freiheit bietet, zwischen den EU-Staaten zu reisen, ohne für jedes Land ein separates Visum zu benötigen.
